Architecture of a dissenting mind.
Maruti Nandan is a political theorist, essayist, and public intellectual whose work sits at the intersection of classical philosophy and contemporary political disruption. For over a decade, he has examined the systems that govern us — not merely to describe them, but to interrogate their assumptions.
Virodh Niti — Sanskrit for "the politics of opposition" — is the editorial extension of that examination. It is a publication built on the conviction that the quality of a democracy is determined not by those who hold power, but by the rigour of those who question it.
His writing has been described as "a standing refusal to accept the comfortable." He holds that intellectual honesty is a form of moral courage, and that the greatest service a writer can offer a society is to say what is inconvenient and demonstrate that it is true.

Founder & Editor-in-Chief
"The Art of Opposition is not merely the act of saying 'no.' It is the disciplined craft of building a better 'why.' We do not exist to echo; we exist to examine, to irritate the surface until the truth beneath is revealed."— The Virodh Niti Manifesto
Philosophy of the Page
On Dissent
We believe that dissent is not a temperamental posture but a reasoned discipline. It requires more precision than agreement, more evidence than consensus, and far more intellectual honesty than the comfortable middle ground demands.
On the Reader
This publication assumes an intelligent, critically engaged reader who is not looking for their existing views to be validated. We write for people who are willing to be wrong — including the authors.
On Independence
Virodh Niti accepts no political patronage, carries no advertising from state-linked entities, and is funded entirely by its readership. This independence is not a luxury. It is the minimum condition for honest work.
